Residence Life works with Facilities Management to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to environmental sustainability within the residences. The President's Advisory Committee on Environment & Sustainability (PACES) has created an action plan to improve awareness of sustainability initiatives and opportunities campus-wide.
Within the residences, Residence Life focuses on programs that minimize our ecological imprint. We challenge our residents to think about what they can do to support this priority on campus. From Meatless Mondays in our dining halls, to the Rez Powers Down Energy Challenge, a variety of programs are organized throughout the year to ensure residents are engaged and connected to our departmental sustainability goals. Students living on the Enviro Learning Community also receive the benefit of living and learning first-hand about our only LEED-Silver residence building, Ontario Hall.
We have also developed a Sustainability Toolkit to help residents and staff to become more environmentally conscious in our everyday lives. The toolkit offers simple tips that are easy to follow. Together we will effect significant positive change.
